Largest ISP in Afghanistan
December 26, 2004
Kabul-based Neda Telecommunications, Afghanistan’s first and largest ISP, completed the purchase of Airspan Networks WipLL-based broadband network, a Fixed Wireless Access system in mid December 2004. Neda Telecommunications, a subsidiary of Aspen Wind Corporation, is the first official license holder from the Ministry of Communications of Afghanistan, and provides "last mile" broadband wireless solutions to the NGO, business and residential communities. The transaction is the initial step in Neda's rollout of broadband Internet and voice services to the five major cities in Afghanistan.
Neda will deploy the WipLL network, operating in the 2.7-2.9Ghz band, licensed frequencies for which Neda has exclusive radio rights in Afghanistan, to supply high speed Internet access services up to 2 Mbps in Kabul, along with base stations and related subscriber packet radios. Airspan’s AS3030, a high-performance OFDM-based broadband wireless system designed for point-to-point operation, will be used as the network backbone to relay bandwidth throughout Kabul's highly mountainous terrain to provide complete service throughout the city.

IT is suggested to the company to use some Point to Multi Point System for cost effective broad band solutions to the low and medium scale users for both Datalink connectivity and Internet Access. There are many around.
